Sven Wiesner interview for Spilling the digital Beans on AI

Sven is the founder of Neon Gold Innovations, a collective for innovation development located in Hamburg, Germany.

If Sven had to pick an AI poison, it would be ChatGPT or Midjourney. He's keen to introduce you and your team to his favourite tools via workshops and training.

The perfect man to share some interesting insights about AI.

The Interview

What's your job and how does it involve AI?

I would describe my job at Neon Gold Innovations as a door opener for teams that discover new technologies. Since the launch of ChatGPT, AI has been the overarching topic in our workshops, training, and sprints. We make it easier for teams to get started with tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney and train them on specific use cases. In sprints, we help develop a sustainable AI strategy.

What's the craziest thing about AI you've heard so far?

Using ChatGPT as a voice assistant in the mobile app surprised me the most. The tone of voice and conversation are simply on a completely different level than assistants like Amazon Alexa. I have already had very exciting and profound conversations with GPT.

Which AI tool do you personally use the most?

Definitely ChatGPT. Not just on the office computer, but especially on the smartphone. I search a lot less on Google, but instead take photos of things and have GPT explain them to me. Aside from that, I use meeting transcription and summarization tools. I continue to write interview answers by hand. ;-)

How much time do you approximately save daily by using AI tools?

It really depends on what I'm working on... In the office I work with AI for several hours every day. Personally, I try to minimize my online time and give myself a break from AI. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't.

Do you prefer: ChatGPT or Gemini?

Although I am a Google Workspace user and also use a Google smartphone, I am more of a fan of ChatGPT. The app simply offers me more; in my opinion, Google has not yet managed to integrate its AI in various places.

What area should AI enthusiasts keep an eye on in the near future?

It's difficult to give a general answer, I think it depends on the area you work in. Personally, I find the AI film area very exciting. Sora from openAI really blew me away. I am also curious to see if and when AI and Web3 will come together.

Any tips, tricks or hacks regarding the use of AI?

1. Try it out for yourself, ideally every day
2. Use AI as your virtual buddy, with whom you can only communicate via text or voice
3. Have long conversations with the AI, and don't break off too quickly
4. For every activity, ask yourself: Could ChatGPT do this for me?

What AI tool should be invented for you?

An extension of ChatGPT that has control access to all apps on my smartphone. So I can give ChatGPT commands like "Book me a subway ticket". I'm actually sure that this is already being worked on... or that OpenAI has already created the possibility but hasn't released it yet.

Love or hate: Technology smarter than humans aka AGI?

Both. Love because we could hand over a lot of unpleasant activities to the AGI. Hate because there will definitely be some assholes who will misuse this technology for bad things.

Do you believe AI will bring a bigger technological revolution than the internet?

Not bigger, the invention and spread of the Internet was a revolution in itself and in the generation of that time (I was there!). AI is the next level that would not exist without the Internet.

Who'll make the race for spearheading AI in 10 years?
Google

Is AI more of a chance or a challenge for humanity?

Again: Both. There are many opportunities waiting, but we will only take advantage of them if we take on the challenge of sensible use.
