Why Nano Banana Pro Just Stole My Heart (via Artist)
I've just tested the Nano Banana Pro on the day of its release on Artlist and directly compared it to the older version Nano Banana. Gemini’s first image generator had already impressed me, but version two (Pro) is another step up. Let me tell you exactly what is so cool about it. I will compare the images generated by each model using the same prompt to highlight the differences in output quality and style.
By the way, it's crazy to me how Artlist always integrates the newest and best models right away. With no other subscription are you as much at the pulse of time—I'm really impressed. Also, one Nano Banana Pro creation only costs 100 credits on Artlist; even Flux Pro Ultra uses more. I don't know how they do it, but I love it and really recommend the platform to SMEs for video generation.
To make it easier, I’ll call Nano Banana going forward GF (for Gemini Flash), and I’ll always add the Nano Banana Pro version on the left, and GF version on the right.
Test 1 Nano Banana Pro vs. Gemini Flash:
My simple prompt I always use for the image generator comparison:
"Create an image of 2 people looking at each other and shaking hands, one being an AI robot, the other a woman. The background is space and the mood is friendly."
I love what Nano Banana Pro did here: the image looks much more realistic than GF's and doesn’t have that animated touch. It’s very crisp and a beautiful image.

Test 2 Nano Banana Pro vs. Gemini Flash:
Morphing multiple pictures together into one
I gave the models these two images and asked them to turn the fighters into anime chicks like her below.
Before GF made me laugh a couple of times because of some very simple requests it just couldn't manage. When requested to morph two images into one, it often looked like it had just cut out one element out and stuck it onto the other—only the dripping glue was missing.
Nano Banana Pro is different; it easily added the anime ladies onto my little book, letting them fight like Xena the warrior woman.
While GF just gave up and didn’t even try to add them.

Test 3 Nano Banana Pro vs. Gemini Flash:
Mission Creativity with little instructions
The prompt here simply was: “Create a Mars landscape with chrome design elements.”
Here the difference isn’t as big as with the other images, but still obvious in my opinion. The Mars landscape of Nano Banana Pro has much more detail and layers, and the image looks clearer.

Test 4 Nano Banana Pro vs. Gemini Flash:
A prompt with many details:
Create an image of an older lady with natural wrinkles and grey hair laying tarot cards. We see her from the front as she holds one card up. Her look is mysterious; she is wearing a veil and the background is a dark blue velvet curtain with golden stitchings of stars, the moon, and star constellations. The style is somewhat between Dune (the movie) and Aladdin, with a shiny gloss on it.
Nano Banana Pro created the more life-like version, whereas GF created a tarot reader straight out of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings—which wasn’t the assignment at all.

Test 5 Nano Banana Pro vs. Gemini Flash:
Make me and my childhood friend age
The prompt was simply: Make the two ladies in the image age to 40 years old.
Now, I don’t think this is what 40-year-old ladies look like, at least without AI or Photoshop. But Nano Banana Pro at least let both of us age, while GF would always just choose one of us and leave the other a child.

Gemini Flash - one kid always stays
Overall, Nano Banana Pro is a solid upgrade from GF. It creates more realistic and detailed images, especially with tricky prompts. If you want a powerful AI image generator that’s pushing the limits and won’t break the bank, Nano Banana Pro is definitely worth a try and Artlist offers a great deal as a whole package. It’s exciting to see how fast these tools are evolving, and I can’t wait to try future versions.
Ok Google, we’re ready to forget your first steps with the image generator that was too woke to generate white Vikings. You basically shook things off a while ago!
