DesignSurprisingly basic, given that Canva is a design toolbox. I usually love Canva, but this is an area it doesn't do itself justice. You have to cling to templates to get a nice design, because Canva's AI will only generate something very simple for you.

Canva Review – Disappointing AI Design and Basic Features

I was honestly surprised by how weak Canva slides Review presentation features are. I tried it out with my usual prompt, “AI Tools for SMEs.” This is a really simple prompt, but that’s the point—I want to see how much the tool can do with a basic idea. Canva gave me a very plain deck, with simple text and even simpler designs. The text is okay, but the design is not what I expect from a tool that’s all about design. When I compare Canva slides Review to Gamma or Pitch, it’s clear that Canva is behind. I expected much more. Even though Canva has an image generator, it doesn’t seem to use it for presentations. Instead, it just adds some average stock photos. The slides themselves are the most disappointing part for me—they just look dull and uninspired. \### Tone of Voice: The Best Part The one thing I really liked is the tone of voice feature. You can paste in a longer text, and Canva will try to match your personal style. This is helpful if you want your slides to sound like you, or if you work at an agency and need different voices for different clients. It’s a small win in this Canva slides Review, but it’s something I haven’t seen in every tool. \### AI Features: Very Basic When it comes to AI, Canva slides Review is very basic. It can make simple text for your slides, and you can set your own tone of voice, but that’s about it. The tool does format the deck correctly, but the presentation feature doesn’t seem to use the image generator (which is pretty basic anyway). Instead, it just adds some not-so-great stock photos. The overall design of the slides is what lets me down the most—they just look boring and flat. \### Final Thoughts If you want a tool that makes your slides look great with little effort, Canva slides Review is not there yet. The designs are too simple, and the AI features are limited. The tone of voice tool is nice, but it’s not enough to make up for the lack of creativity in the slides. I hope Canva improves this feature soon, because right now, it’s just not good enough compared to other options.
